SPC Training for PISI
Rafael Pefianco of RMP Consultancy conducted the Statistical Process Control Training Basic Course for the Philippine Iron and Steel Institute at the Drake Room of the Discovery Suites in Ortigas Center last 18 to 19 September 2015.
The course was attended by staff from the company members of the Philippine Iron and Steel Institute. The institute is the premier organization that represents the country’s iron and steel industry.
Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a very effective method of quality control using statistical methods. It is used to detect and prevent problems as early as possible in the production process. By collecting data from samples at various points within the process, variations in the process that may affect the quality of the end product or service can be detected early and corrected. Early detection helps to reduce waste and avoid passing defective products to your customer.
SPC methods also provide the quality assurance (QA) professional with a powerful set of tools for the analysis of production data. He can then isolate and quantify the problems identified and begin to determine possible steps towards problem resolution.
The training introduced the staff to the concepts of SPC and it also provided them with practical practice sessions using spreadsheet software as well as Freeware and Commercial Software.
